Building talabat’s food discovery strategy

With over 1 million food orders per day, talabat users who want to break out of their routine and try new restaurants often revert to their familiar choices. They perceive food discovery as a risk, fearing that trying something new might lead to a disappointing experience. As the Lead Designer for Food Discovery, my role was to create a healthy balance between re-orders and discovery orders.

Vendor cards are central in the user journey: they help users get key information about a restaurant or a store. I pitched a proposal for a single, flexible card component to talabat’s CEO, got the green light, and secured internal resources to bring this project to life.

Building a growth strategy for Pickup

Pickup is talabat’s new venture, allowing users to self-collect their orders and save on delivery fees. However, average daily orders were declining due to reduced marketing support, leading to low awareness and understanding of the feature. My role as the Lead Designer, was to help the right user segment notice and understand the value of Pickup.
